Golfing is one of America’s favorite past times. Visitors as well as natives of Michigan have a vast selection of challenging and scenic public golf courses to choose from. Tree-lined fairways, courses with varying elevation changes, and link-style courses are all represented within the Wolverine State. Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club

Located in Arcadia, Michigan is a 245 acre course that boasts wide fairways and greens averaging 8,000 feet. It’s an 18-hole course with 50 sod-wall bunkers. The course was constructed in 1998 and lines the shore of Lake Michigan. Arcadia is a “links” style course that offers breathtaking views of Lake Michigan while golfing. It was designed by Warren Henderson and Rick Smith. There are multiple tees for a variety of levels of play. The clubhouse offers casual dining inside or outside on a deck overlooking the course as well as the lake. Arcadia has been ranked as one of the top 10 public courses in the United States by “Golf Digest.” It’s the most acclaimed public course in Michigan.

Eagle Eye Golf Club

The 18-hole Eagle Eye course at the Eagle Eye Golf Club can be found in East Lansing, Michigan. Eagle Eye is also considered a “links” style course that features 7,318 yards of golf from the longest tees. Par is 72 on this man-made course. Eagle Eye was designed by Chris Lutzke and Pete Dye. The course was founded in 2003 and continues to draw golf enthusiasts looking for a unique golfing experience. The clubhouse is well-appointed and comfortable.

The Villages at Tullymore

Stanwood, Michigan is home to Tullymore, a high-end public golf course with sculpted fairways and 7,146 yards of rolling greens. Par for the eighteen-hole Tullymore course is 72. Renowned golf architect, Jim Engh, brought Tullymore Golf Course to life in 2001. This course has been described as a hidden gem because of its location off the beaten path of the more well-known Northern Michigan golf destinations.

Forest Dunes

Forest Dunes golf course found can be found in Roscommon, Michigan. The 7,104-yard golf course, surrounded by Huron National Forest, winds through dunes and pine trees. Concrete paths for carts are part of the lay-out of Forest Dunes. Tom Weiskopf designed this one-of-a-kind golf course. There are six tee placements at Forest Dunes. The amenities at this course also include a stunning Adirondack-style clubhouse and a 20-acre practice facility.     Put Timber Trace Golf Club in Pinckney Michigan atop your list for courses to play. A very well maintained course with plenty of challenges for all level of golfers. An up north feel but only 30 or so miles from Detroit – a great course!
